SAE Industrial Felt

S.A.E. stands for Society of Automotive Engineers. It is a standard of measurement applied to felts used for industrial applications such as F-1, F-5 etc. These applications often require high durability with resistance to abrasion and wear. Wool felt is an extremely versatile textile.

The hardness of felt, or density, is one of the differentiating factors among SAE felts. The second is the wool content. Our best quality felt is made with 95% – 100% virgin wool. All our SAE wool felt can handle continuous operating temperatures between -80 to +200 °F.

Please note: Our industrial felts are made with wool that comes from free roaming sheep. Sheep hair comes in a variety of beige and gray tones, making it difficult to guarantee consistent color between rolls.
